Observations. Those wonderful things you notice that happens in a movie that the director was hoping you wouldn't spot. Or they could just be cute little things that happen in the background. Like for example, people being in two places at once, someone's mouth not moving when they talk, or some guy picking his nose on camera. These things are all very easy to spot in Newsies after you've seen the movie enough. (Not all of these are mine so credit to the people who saw them!)
- When Snipeshooter's in the tub, if you look behind him, you see Jake walking into the bathroom stall with his pants down!
- Mush likes to be late getting into his spot a lot. First, in CTB when they sing "we need a good assasination" and do the pelvic thrust. you know what I'm talking about, you see him running from the back and tripping over the little kid in orange to to get to his spot just in time. Then, in STD when they're in the circle things he's the last person to get in his spot before they start dancing again.
- Also, speaking of Mush tripping, he nearly falls over when their walking out of the distribution center after Jack and Dave become partner. He isn't that good at walking
- Do you notice how when the guys go the Brooklyn, none of the newsies there are selling papers?
- If you look as Spot's wrist when he shoots the bottle in Brooklyn, you can see a clear tan line from his watch or something.
- When Skttery spins off the steps in CTB he misses the last step and trips (Aw my poor baby)
- When all the newsies are making the other newsies drop the papes so that they're in the strike too, the first one that does it is the same guy that Race is asking if he can read in OAFA.
- Hot dog's weren't invented in 1899
- Jack likes to say people's names at random moments for no reason. Like, right before STD he mumbles "Hey Crutchy" which makes no sense, and you do actually hear Crutchy reply saying "Heya Jack!" Then in the end in the big crowd after Jack comes back he yells "Hey you Skittery" like he's looking a Skittery and calling to him. This would make sense if Skittery wasn't next to him...
- David laughs at the strangest times. Like in Tibby's after TWWK, when they are talking to Denton, and then Jack gives him like a death stare.
- In the part after Jack tells Dave headlines don't sell papes newsies sell papes and the girl walks by. All of the boys take their hats off immediately and swoon. well except for Dave, who's a little late to respond.
- Also in that same part, Mush nearly falls over haha!
- In KONY, when they sing, "Pulitzer's cryin', Weasel he's dyin'." you can see Pie Eater, Dutchy, and Swifty in the background pretending to hang themselves.
- All of those magical moments when people seem to appear in two places at once.
- When the crowds start coming in during TWWN reprise you see everyone celebrating, and in between Jack and Sarah you see Spot. But then in the next clip you see Spot again, but this time he's leading Brooklyn into the square. What? MAGIC!
- Watch the puppet guy next to Les during the Medda song. More teleportation!
- Why does Pulitzer need a magnifying glass to read a big headline when he already has glasses? Not to mention he magnifying glass is WAY off with what he is reading out loud.
- At some point during the rally you can clearly see an "Exit" sign on the wall. I'm pretty sure they didn't have light up exit signs in 1899.
- When Sarah punches Morris you can see her punch the wall. She actually did hurt her hand because you can see her holding it the rest of the scene.
- Did anyone else catch that after David says he's never been to Brooklyn and asks Boots and Jack if they've been, Boots says, "I spent a month there one night." uhh..how do you spend a month somewhere in one night?
- When Jack and Spot spit shake the first time in Brooklyn, Spot misses his hand when he spits.
- During, "nevah feah Brooklyn is heah!" when Spot ziplines down to Jack, he licks his hand instead of spitting on it.
- Spot doesn't dance at all. He just sits there in KONY like "I'm too cool for this" (he literally looks like he doesn't give a damn during the whole song)
- Watch Blink during the part when Weasal is taking Jack away after everyone finds out he's a scab, you can see him yell "You big shit!"
- Blink is a little late in the beginning of STD Chorale.
- When Mush gets thrown in the air during STD he screams like he's going to die and has a terrified look on his face (It's cute).
- In CTB right before they do the pelvic thrust for the first time Jack is still on the ground from the dance move he did before and is having trouble getting up so Blink runs over to help him and they make up something to still get to their spots on time.
- In CTB when Mush does the flip off the cart he makes some kind of creepy demonic sound.
- When Race is getting his papes in the beginning, you can hear Mush in the background go "Jacky just got laid!"
- David awkwardly touching children and a random lady in the beginning of STD. Weird.
- After the judge tells them they have to pay a $5 fine Spot goes "5 bucks? This sucks!" and Bumlets says "That's bogus." Yeah, I don't think "bogus" was a word back then, and I don't think they used the word "sucks" in that context.
- When Jack says "I'm perusin the merchandise Mr.Weasel" Mush calls Blink "Parker."
- When they first go into Medda's, Jack looks really...uh...happy when she's talking to them.
- When Snyder is being taken away, and Denton tells everyone to say goodbye, Racetrack yells, "Bye pooface!"
- Before KONY when Race slaps Skittery, he falls back into Mush, kinda hitting his nose. If you watch Mush when Skitt turns back around, he touches his nose as if he was making sure it was okay.
- In the Brooklyn scene, a guy in the background is picking his nose.
- Racetrack likes touching people's faces
- In CTB after Race says "I fear da sewers may have backed up durin da night" he slaps Blink and then Blink immediately slaps Mush too and then laughs.
- Pulitzer pokes Jack like 10 times.
- Does anyone else feel like Pulitzer is some kind of broken robot?
- It's really amusing listening to all of the extra characters talking in the background when Dave is riding under the carriage up to Pulitzer's house because if you listen closely, it sounds like the same person carrying on a conversation with himself.
- Mush and Blink are in the background giggling to each other when Jack and Dave are making a deal in the beginning.
- Mush and Blink end up sharing a drink after KONY because no one passes another drink back. It's cute to watch because Blink at first tries to grab another drink but nobody lets him so they finally face the fact that they have to share and they're back there giggling the whole time.
- Pie Eater stepped on Dave's foot before the picture was taken.
- Jack is the one who says no pictures yet is the only one that looks good in the picture.
- At the rally, Jack gets punched in the chin, but in the court room he has a black eye. Did something happen that we don't know about?
- At the end of KONY, right when Bumlets lets go of the fan, Skittery is standing on a chair and accidentally knocks Specs' hat off. Specs then picks it up and Skittery slaps him and they both start laughing.
- Snoddy wipes his nose multiple times throughout the movie. That's why they call him Snoddy I guess.
- When Blink helps Jack out of the rally his hat is off, but when they go outside his hat is magically on his head. I just love how magical this movie is!
- The part during CTB when Jack "kicks" the Delancey's you can clearly see his feet made no contact with their faces.
- Also, in that part after the Delancey's stand up, Morris' mustache is gone. Hmm, wonder where it went.
- In the courtroom Denton clearly tells the boys to meet him at Tibby's later and Spot nods in agreement, but then he leaves as soon as Denton gets there (Denton even holds the door for him!) Guess he decided he's too cool to hang out with the Manhattan newsies.
- In the beginning of "Santa Fe" it's raining, but then later on, Jack is kicking up dust. This was actually meant to simulate Jack being in Santa Fe. If you notice the buildings look a little more "western" in that part and the guy he steals the horse from has a country accent. I don't really get it, I think it's kinda dumb. So the whole song is basically going on inside Jack's imagination.
- David magically gets a New York accent in KONY.
- The movie never really explains why everyone is so afraid of Brooklyn and Spot. I mean, later on they don't seem that afraid of him when they're all hanging out like buddies. Seriously though, what's so special about the guys from Brooklyn? Are they just from Brooklyn? Is that what makes them tough? What did Spot do to "move up in the world" as Jack said, and why does that make everyone fear him?
- So many questions unanswered. This movie introduces a lot of stuff, but never explains them.
